He also will be appearing at the Lost River Grill restaurant in the center on April 5. The theatre/gallery recently underwent $4-1/2 million in renovations. 3/29/02 Roy in "Biography Magazine"

Dave Martindale of A&E's BIOGRAPHY magazine called me to interview Roy in February and the story, under a kind of "Where Are They Now" billing will appear in the June issue of the magazine. As far as we know, the article will appear on page 32 with a picture of Roy from the old "Invaders" days and a new photo. An excerpt talks about Roy's reaction to fans giving him "the finger" and what that means, "To this day, people see me and give me the stiff finger," Thinnes says. "A waiter in a restaurant, a hotel desk clerk. It's amazing." Of course, Roy is referring to the "mutated fourth finger" that many Invader aliens have that exposes who they are to discerning alien hunters like David Vincent. 11/22/01 Roy to co-star in two Cosmic Films

Roy is to play in a $50 million police action thriller called "Behind the Badge," to be directed by Simund Neufeld, Jr.(TJ Hooker, Kojak, Battlestar Galactica) as well as co-star as General Bradley Purcell in the science fiction drama, "The Cogency," also budgeted at $50 million and to be directed by Michael Schaertl (Touched By An Angel). Filming is tentatively scheduled to begin March 31, 2002 for "Behind the Badge," and June 1, 2002 for "The Cogency". Both films will be produced by James Finch and Jeff White of Cosmic Films, LLC and PrimaLynn Entertainment. Both projects will be shot in Las Vegas.

10/22/01 Roy on Law And Order: Criminal Intent

Roy appears in 3 scenes as the Catholic Church's lawyer in the October 22nd airing of the new show starring Vincent D'Onofrio, an excellent actor who also appeared in an earlier episode of Law And Order.

9/24/01 Roy the ARTIST: gallery showing!

08/14/01 Roy makes "SECRETS" Seminar a success!

Roy hosted a seminar called "Secrets Of Success In Remodeling" in the International Platform Association's National Convention at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on August 11, 2001. The seminar was given by Author and Construction Industry expert Martin S. Simmons. The IPA is the oldest international organization on Earth. Celebrating their 170th anniversary, the IPA fosters free speech and allows speakers to talk on a variety of political, technical, social and sometimes very controversial issues.

03/13/01 WHO OWNS "THE INVADERS"?

The "property"(as all shows are referred to in the business) is solely owned by Paramount Pictures, a subsidiary of Viacom International, a giant media conglomerate based in California. Talking to their Marketing Department, there are no plans to release "The Invaders" as a home video product nor are there any revealed plans to release the series to a TV network. I have written to their VP of Marketing to see if something can be done to market "The Invaders", perhaps with Roy as part of the campaign. He could be in a commercial or an info-mercial advertising the series on tape and/or DVD. Remember Roy as the Bayer Man in the 80's? He'd be great promoting the show and would really be integral to selling the tapes or DVDs to consumers who are already scrambling for the product(just look at the demand for the old 1988 Good Times Videotapes selling at Ebay for well over cost despite only 12 episodes released and the lack of reproduction quality thereof). So far, the only way to get the entire series is second or third generation VHS copies off from tv broadcasts of the show from the 1980's.

The best thing fans who want broadcast grade copies of the show can do right now is write to Paramount Home Video and demand the product be released on tape and DVD. Your letters should be addressed to:

03/13/01 JEREMIAH SMITH TAKES A BREAK 'TIL JULY

Roy's portrayal of the polymorphic alien healer Jeremiah Smith is not slated to reappear on the X-Files until the summer. I just talked to Roy and the script hasn't even been written as of yet, but will be around July of 2001. It is not known whether this script will be for season 8 or 9 as The X Files is on hiatus at this time. Roy also will be doing a play soon. Details to follow.

03/03/01 ROY GOES TO FRANCE LATE APRIL, 2001

Roy wrote the forward to a French book by Didier Liardet, "Les Envahisseurs" (The Invaders). The show is still being aired on French TV 3 at 12:00 AM weeknights. Roy will be going for a special book signing. Details to follow.

03/03/01 ROY ON LAW & ORDER

Roy will appear on a spin-off of the NBC hit series "Law & Order", called "Law & Order: Criminal Intent", later this fall, 2001. We do not have an airdate yet.

03/02/01 ROY INTERVIEWED ON CHICAGO RADIO

Roy's live interview was March 2, 2001 at 11:35 AM Eastern Standard Time or 10:35 Chicago Time. Desi Damianades, producer of WCRX 88 FM, a talk/variety station in the Chicago area, coordinated the interview. If you missed it, we will have an audio clip available of this interview at a later date.

02/26/01 JEREMIAH SMITH USURPED BY THE LONE GUNMEN?!

Jeremiah Smith's reappearance on Sunday night's episode of X-Files was well received by fans, but there was more than just Scully's frustration as to a long wait for a resolution to the story. X-Files is going on a temporary hiatus while Chris Carter's try-out series, The Lone Gunmen, has a short run. X-Files will resolve part of the Mulder dilemma later in the year. Part of the reason for Mulder's sporadic appearances this season is the result of David Duchovny's contract negotiations to do only 11 episodes this year, and at a scaled down work schedule in order for the actor to be available for feature films. Roy has made himself available for Jeremiah's next appearance, which is still in the planning stages. We will have updates as they come about.

01/26/01 ROY'S ALIEN ALTER EGO RETURNS

Roy has just finished wrapping up an episode of The X Files where his now semi-regular character Jeremiah Smith returns to help Mulder. Jeremiah Smith is a shapeshifting alien who appears human and who has miraculous healing powers first showcased at the end of the third season of X-Files in an episode entitled "Talitha, Cumi" and beginning of the fourth season in an episode called "Herrenvolk" as the second part of the special two-part cliffhanger. It was unclear as to whether the Alien Bounty Hunter(Brian Thompson)actually killed Jeremiah, who had rebelled against the alien colonists. Roy's series, THE INVADERS, of which Chris Carter was a big fan as a child, was the inspiration behind the alien conspiracy mythology in the X-Files, and for Roy being cast as Jeremiah Smith. Airdate for Roy's first appearance this season is February 25. He will appear again as Jeremiah Smith later in the season.

Roy has also been busy directing "The Exact Center Of The Universe", a hit play in Memphis, TN which he hopes to make into a movie soon. It ran Jan. 11 - Feb. 4, 2001 at Theatre Memphis, 630 Perkins Ext., Memphis, TN (901)682-8323. Written by Joan Vail Thorne, Directed by Roy Thinnes, the play is reminiscent of Driving Miss Daisy and introduces us to Vada Love Powell, a strong-willed southern matron who spends her afternoons playing canasta with her friends in a tree house. Vada has spoiled her middle aged son, who is convinced no woman is good enough for her "baby," so she is thrown for a loop when a young woman falls for him and tries to steal him away. This play explores the parental paradox of loving while letting go with wit and a charming reflection on age, change and the limitations of love.
