ROY THINNES
Here's Roy as the FIRST Dr. Brewer in the long running TV soap, General Hospital.
Roy with actress Joanne Dru in "The Long Hot Summer", a year before the Invaders premiered.
"Hey, you've got your sleeves rolled up and your shirt tucked in, I've got my sleeves rolled up and my shirt tucked in. Let's party!!" Another promo shot from "The Long, Hot Summer."
"I hope you're going to kiss me and not choke me to death!" Another promo shot from "The Long, Hot Summer."
This is a rare trading card of Roy as "Croft", a rogue but ultimately a hero in the popular two part Battlestar Galactica episode "Gun On Ice Station Zero."
Roy is still regarded as one of the best actors to grace the stage and screen. Many of his adoring fans are women, who regard him as one of the most handsome men in the world. He has a reputation of being classy with high standards, especially in the treatment of women. He is known as a consumate gentleman and a great role model. Speaking of stage, Roy has appeared in many theatrical productions, including the hit play "Room Service", a Forties Farce. He also directed a hit play in Memphis in January and February of 2001 called "The Exact Center Of The Universe." The mayor liked it so much, he gave Roy the Key to the City!
This is a video box cover for the Fox/Aaron Spelling 1995 remake of the series. The movie on its own isn't too bad, but the writers seemed to ignore much of the original vision by Larry Cohen. The other problem with this mini-series was that Roy had quit the Serial "One Life To Live" in the hopes that this was the way to get his beloved Invaders show back on the air. He was made several promises, but ended up with a role hardly more than a cameo, eclipsed by both Scott Bakula and a story far from the original Invaders mythology. While Richard Thomas provided an unintentionally comic performance as an alien who breathes exhaust fumes from his truck and while Spelling's aliens were chain smoking lizard-like beings whose spaceship looks like somebody was drunk in the special effects department, the story does have some decent moments and the mini-series is worth a rental just to see Roy. I talked with Roy's son shortly after the show's airing on FOX and let's just say a Happy Camper Roy wasn't. Roy also told me he was disappointed, both in the lack of screen time for the David Vincent character, and the way the show was hurriedly glued together by the producers who did not adequately research the original series for continuity. There was talk recently of acquiring the rights to the Invaders. The latest rumor is that Viacom/Paramount owns the property outright and may release the series on DVD. Roy also appeared as a regular in the remake of "Dark Shadows".
He played two characters, including the quirky and, according to some fans, rather humorous Reverend Trask in "Dark Shadows".
Another shot of Trask in "Dark Shadows".
Nice color shot of Trask in "Dark Shadows". Good makeup job, eh?
Here's Roy as General Sloan Carpenter from One Life To Live, shortly before his character was killed off on the show.
